Information For Referring Physicians

Our Internet site has three points of interest for referring physicians to SpineColorado.

  1. Overview of SpineColorado and how it can be a resource for you and your patients. This includes information about all our physicians and how to refer a patient to any of our physicians or directly into our spine specialized manual therapy department.
  2. E-consult. Note that a password is required to access this feature. As the expert source for information about all types of back and neck problems, SpineColorado physicians provide a free service to referring physicians only. We are able to answer physician questions via e-mail through a password-protected INTRANET site. If you are a referring physician, you may have already received a letter from SpineColorado with your password in it. If you are a physician and would like a password assigned to you so you can communicate through e-mail with any of our physicians, please call 970-382-9500 and ask for the nurse. If you already have your password and would like to go to this e-consult page click here.
  3. Clinical Outcome Report Card and patient severity data. We will be sharing patient severity data that shows the severity of patients entering SpineColorado for their first appointment, along with clinical outcome information. You will need your password to access this page.

OVERVIEW on SpineColorado

SpineColorado acts as a regional center of excellence for back and neck problems. Jim Youssef, M.D. is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in back and neck surgery. Cyril Bohachevsky, M.D., Mara Isser Sax, D.O. and Robert Wallach, D.O. are physiatrists, or physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors, who specialize in the non-surgical treatment of back and neck pain.

What makes SpineColorado unique is its emphasis on a non-surgical approach to back and neck problems. The spine center, for example, includes two physicians who specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, also called physiatrists. These physicians have advanced training in back and neck pain and often are successful in helping people return to activity — without surgery.

If you have a patient who requires surgery, or may need a consult for a complex spine problem, there are several ways to access the expertise of SpineColorado for the benefit of your patient.

Our goal is to provide the most advanced spine care to your patient, and then return the patient to your care.

Said another way, SpineColorado is able to take care of any type of back or neck problem: from the simple back or neck strain all the way to the most complex spine surgery involving surgical instrumentation.
